CU Training Announces the Immediate Availability of “Elder
Financial Abuse Prevention”.
NANAIMO, BC CANADA
– NOVEMBER 15th 2006 – CU Training, a leading developer
of credit union training announced the release of a new course
in their American Course Library. The newest course is called
“Elder Financial Abuse Prevention” and it deals with
the role our credit union employees play in recognizing and reporting
financial abuse of elderly and financially dependent adults.
About
“Elder Financial Abuse Prevention”
The number of elderly
people in our country is growing significantly and, along with
it, financial abuse of elders is burgeoning. The National Center
on Elder Abuse estimates there may be as many as 5 million victims
a year and experts are calling elder financial abuse “the
crime of the 21st century” as our seniors fall prey to financial
crime at an ever-increasing rate.
CU Training’s
new course “Elder Financial Abuse Prevention” explores
the topic as it relates specifically to credit union staff. It
reviews what to watch for, how to recognize potential abuse, what
to do when abuse is suspected, and the appropriate actions to
take including when, and how, to bring the issue to the attention
of authorities.
